CAOL ILA 2013, VERY CLOUDY

Close to smoked malted barley, Caol Ila is also marine, vegetal, oily, and peaty. The independent Signatory Vintage also offer beautiful versions of this single malt. The large onion-shaped stills of the Caol Ila distillery explain to a large extent the rather light and very fine character of this single malt.

Founded in 1846, Caol Ila is an essential distillery of Islay. Particularly appreciated by independent bottlers, the character and the versatility of this single malt have strongly contributed to its reputation. It is a natural choice for peat lovers. The Caol Ila has an oily, smoky and iodine profile, with notes of charcoal, camphor and preserved lemons. Like The Un-Chillfiltered Collection, the whiskies in the Very Cloudy range are bottled from small batches of two to five casks. Reduced to 43% without chill filtration or colouring, they have a rich, highly aromatic profile and a slightly cloudy appearance.

Oily, smoky, iodized.

Nose:
Smoky and ashy. Coal, menthol, malted barley, citrus,
liquorice, earthy notes.

Palate:
Oily, peaty. Tar, salt-cured lemons, camphor, linseed oil,
white fruits.

Finish:
Long, oily and smoky. Ashes and citrus fruits.
