In collaboration with Just Like Papa, Donkey Long Tong and The Mission Fly Fishing Magazine, we’re very proud to announce the very first Karoo Kubs PROVIDER Experience.

The Provider tier was added to the Karoo Kubs Experience to help parents and kids better understand where ethical food actually comes from, while exploring the ethical and sustainable side of hunting, fishing and foraging.

It’s about replacing stigma with knowledge, teaching respect for animals and the land, and helping the next generation understand the responsibility that comes with putting food on the table when it doesn’t come from a supermarket.

For our first Provider Experience, we’re heading to Die Mond Campsite Tankwa for a weekend focused on fly fishing.

From Friday 6 November to Sunday 8 November, parents and children will camp riverside and learn the fundamentals of fly fishing, including casting, tying flies, catching fish, preparing the catch and cooking it over the fire.

Our primary target species will be the alien Bluegill. As a non-indigenous species, Bluegill may be harvested and eaten, allowing us to teach the full journey from water to plate in a responsible and respectful way.

One evening will also be dedicated to the kids braaing for their parents, putting what they’ve learned into practice and taking responsibility for feeding the camp.

All fishing equipment will be provided.

The experience includes:

• Riverside camping for the full weekend
• Dinner on Friday and Saturday evening
• Breakfast on Sunday morning
• Fly-fishing equipment and instruction
• One ticket for one parent and one child
• The option to add an additional parent or child at an extra cost

Children must be between 10 and 16 years old, inclusive.

Guests will need to bring their own tents and bedding.

Only five tickets available. One ticket includes one Parent and one child, with options to add an parent or extra child if you need to.
